Students aged 16 to 19 from low-income families who are attending full-time courses in schools and colleges can get £30 a week in support.
Since EMA was introduced in 2004 the cost of food, transport, books and equipment has seen huge increases but students support has not. Plus, EMA eligibility criteria hasn't changed in over 10 years, making it harder for people to access this vital support!
Join us and stand with students today to increase EMA!
We are calling on the Economy Minister to:
- Increase EMA payments to ensure students receive proper financial support to stay in education.
- Increase eligibility for EMA, recognising the rising cost of living and inflation.
- Review the EMA Bonus Payment to ensure these payments are given to every student as an essential maintenance payment.
